Custodial Arrest
A public safety officer will make a custodial arrest when issuing a citation in lieu of arrest is not possible. These arrests will lead to the offender being taken to the municipality’s local police department or sheriff’s office, and being processed, and set to appear in front of a Judge for arraignment (a process of setting bail/bond and release requirements during trial).
Custodial arrests should be made in the following circumstances;
Traffic and Criminal Misdemeanors where a CLA is not possible.
All felony charges.
Probation violations.
