SA(11)03 Duty Day Limits

Duty Day Limits is a charge for a individual who exceeds:

1. driver that is operating an aircraft carrying persons or property for hire must comply with the following duty day requirements:

  • A pilot may drive for no more than 8 hours per 16 hour duty period

  • A pilot may be on duty no more than 16 hours per 24 hour period

  • A pilot must rest (be off duty) for 8 continuous hours per 24 hour period

  1. A pilot shall maintain a logbook which indicates the times at which the driver went on duty, off duty, was driving, and took his or her required breaks.

  • Pilots will keep records for 7 days including the current day.

Notes:

suspension of his or her pilot’s license for 3 days. An airplane shall be put out of service for a violation of this section until such time that the violation is corrected. An airplane may not be put out of service for a violation that occurred prior to the last 10 hour rest period.
