Infractions
An infraction occurs when a driver violates a traffic law. An infraction can result in a fine and points acquired to the driver’s license via a TC, but no jail time.
When a civilian commits an infraction, they are either subject to;
Traffic Citation Warnings are used in the event of a traffic violation in which the public safety officer does not feel as though a citation, or ticket, is warranted. TCWs can be conducted as verbal with no record of the stop, or as a written warning which will be marked in the driver's record.
Traffic Citations are used in the event of a traffic violation in which the public safety officer feels as though the driver posed a danger or has a habitual routine of violating traffic laws. Citations will result in a fine, and points being acquired to the driver’s license. Drivers have the right to fight a citation in a Traffic Court of the County where the infraction occurred.
