SA (2)01 Arson

Arson is a charge reserved for people who intentionally set fire to any structure, forest land, or property without prior authorization.

Level 6 Felony if the fire, explosive, or other destructive device is used to damage another’s property with the intent to defraud.

Sentence: 30 minutes

Fine: $5,000

Level 4 Felony if an individual (by means of fire, explosive, or any other destructive device) knowingly or intentionally damages; A dwelling of another person without the other person’s consent AND/OR property of any person under circumstances that endanger human life AND/OR property of another person without consent where the property damages is equal to or greater than $5,000 AND/OR a structure used for religious worship without consent from the owner.

Sentence: 60 minutes

Fine: $10,000

Level 3 Felony if the arson was completed for compensation AND/OR the arson caused bodily injury to any person.

Sentence: 120 minutes

Fine: $15,000

Level 2 Felony if the arson causes serious bodily injury to any other person other than the individual.

Sentence: 180 minutes

Fine: $20,000
