SA (1)01 Criminal Threats

Criminal Threats is a charge reserved for individuals who willfully threatens to commit a crime that can/will result in death or bodily injury to another person.

A person can be charged with Criminal Threats if:

  1. The individual knowingly and willingly threatens another person’s safety or their immediate family.

    1. This can be verbally, in writing, or by means of electronic communication.

  2. The other person must have been in reasonable and sustainable fear.

Examples:

  1. Threatening to set fire to someone’s home or other property.

  2. Telling previous employers, or other people to “watch their backs”
