Criminal Confinement is a charge that is reserved for individuals who unlawfully restrains one’s freedom of movement.

A person can be charged with Criminal Confinement if:

  1. The individual unlawfully restrains another person's freedom of movement.

  2. The restraint was without consent

This charge is not applicable to law enforcement officers acting within their job, unless the restraint was unlawful in nature.
